Penang Penang! We will be back!

part 2 of baby's celebration.
a weight gaining trip to penang.
aim of this trip: 一天吃九餐。

b4 we went to penang, we've this mini farewell dinner w a colleague. i can oni say that victims of a political game r usually the one at the bottom of the food chain.
sigh.
however, i do feel that when one door closes, another door will open. changes = chances / opportunities
anyway.....

baby n i were early that day.....pose for pix 1st

 my fav cocktail, mojito
this fish taco is AWESOME!!!! love love love the spiciness, the flavors, the tangy sauce....yumz!
 chips were ok.
crab on corn chips. fresh n refreshing
jalapeno stuffed w rice. v robust w flavors.
"aiyo, so many things to eat, order wat ah???"
grilled corn. corn was sweet n juicy, embedded w cheese n spices. super delicious

this was the best pork ribs i've tasted here. i hate ribs drenched in sweet bbq sauce, ore weird concoctions. but these ribs r amazing. tender n juicy ribs, slightly sourish, salty, spicy sauce (think salty tabasco sauce)......v well balanced n packed w flavors. my fav ribs period.

muz end the dinner w our fav waffles
we will definitely miss her.

right after that dinner, baby n i made our way to penang (ok, not immediately la)

Day 1 (18/07)

sitting at the emergency exit. more leg space leh.....
service @ the hotel was awesome. they helped us w the luggage n served us 2 glasses of fruit punch while we were checking in (the heat was killing us). we were happy.

its a heritage hotel, so the deco is dam nostalgic, n it was really spacious.

chiong out for a decent lunch, but alas, these tasted mediocre. sigh.waste my calories.
baby n i then decide to brave the killer heat to look for the legendary wanton mee. we've walked in the heat for about 30 mins b4 we found the road side stall.
 热死我了!
 为了两碗云吞面!
very tasty! different from wat we hav locally (n NO ketchup. yeay), noodles r springy n eggy, sauce is super flavorful (i suspect lard), totally worth my walking. hahaha.
baby waiting for her apong. uncle's stall sells the best apongs around this area.
the stall is juz beside the wtm stall.

muz eat immediately one lor.....even under the heat.
nice, soft, fluffy apong.....w coconut flavor. yumz!

this space is interesting. its a art workshop / studio, a shop front, an exhibition space, a place for sharing / performance.......

 老子要有钱!

 there's a mini goldsmith exhibition
 art studio is upstairs
baby: i go up liao, bye bye

 baby: hi, i reach liao....
me: -_-'''
i've identified the fact that i own 90% of these old cassette tapes
 baby trying to b artist

“alamak! got 张信哲 one! i oso have!!!!"

we spent some time at the space b4 we waddle back under the scorching sun.
damn ugly pix. no choice, the heat made us sweat n dehydrated like mad. super tired when we reached our hotel room
baby camwhoring w my new shades
 我看起来比较杀
she looked better in her own new shades. we bought our shades from a shopping mall nearby (when we were hiding from the heat)

we went to this cafe nearby. there r alot of cafes in georgetown now....we wanted to visit some of them for this trip.
triple crepe cake. 3 flavors (i am sure u noe wat they r). ok la. better then the famous brand we hav. i still prefer the one in P.A in BKK.

my ice cube espresso. they served the espresso as ice cubes, w a small jug of steamed milk.
i can drink the milk like this!
u juz need to pour the warm milk into the glass w the ice, n it will become iced kopi. v cool.
somehow i think this new look suits her to a T.

 trying different images
basically, we juz "steamed" in the cafe n let time sneak by.

a fake street art in the cafe. haha.
we proceed to this famous tze char place for dinner. this is their famous roast pork dish. roasted pork stir fried w dark soya sauce n chilli. super super super robust in flavors, n it is SPICY!!!! goes well w rice.
 dishes we ordered. small portions.
the tofu was tasty too! baby found it abit too salty though
 radish soup w pork ribs.
v happy diner. but we had other thoughts. an early small portioned dinner is a prelude for our next desitination.

we made our way to this hawker street at 9pm for more makan!
having tasted a lousy plate of ccf this morning, i had my reserves for this. my oh my. how wrong was i! this is v delicious! the sweet sauce n the har gou + chilli sauce is damn awesome! well balanced taste w thin silky cheong fun......v v nice.
need some sweet dessert ot cool down the heat. gingko w longan is a good bet.
 lor bak is tasty.
this is my ultimate fav dish. char kway teow w duck egg! wah seh, the flavors of the dish was boosted by the duck egg, making it rich n robust. i love love this char kway teow. full of wok hei too! uberlicious.
super crowded.i will b back to try other stuff.

Day 2 (19/07)

wanted to try our luck at this v v famous place for bfast.
woke up damn early, n found that this place is PACKED to the brim, w ppl shouting for attention.
yes, the service is non existent here. the dun even want to take ur orders. i went to 3 different ppl for orders n all ignored me.
after showing some annoyance, they juz non-chalantly asked me to sit down!
we tried to share a table w a v nice uncle, who told us that he had been waiting for an hour juz for his toasted bread. n still waiting when we've decided to leave that sucky place without even placing our orders after 30 mins.

为了吃这样的早餐,要受那么多气,值得吗?
i dun wan to say bad things. juz take it as i hav different priorities in life, n time wasting is definitely NOT one of them.

we've decided to walk around in the open market nearby.
found this coffee shop crowded w ppl (a good sign). so we juz went in n ordered our makan.

 lor mee....hmmmm
 duno nice or not???
 kopi is nt bad,,,,,
this lor mee is so good! i am nt sure wat stds they hav here, but this is definitely tastier than watever we had locally. i love the fact that it is fragrant w he garlic, nt overpowering, n the gravy is nt as thick n sticky, but rather, smooth yet cling onto the noodles. v nice!
this is called the "lan mee"(兰面). ya i noe, u muz b thinking wtf man. i hav no idea wat this is. hahaha. noodles in a prawn n chix broth. chinese style mee soto. nice. but me being me, the portion is too small to fill up my humongous stomach, so i've decided to go for another bowl of wanton mee. yes, i ate another bowl of noodle after this. no pix though.
strolled in the open market after bfast.

tsk, dun stare at uncle pls. its really v hot out here.

these cherries caught baby's attention, n eventually, her wallet.

n how can she miss this?
damn chao kuan one. buy already muz eat IMMEDIATELY.
filling was corn n peanut. v nice!

look see look see in a traditional biscuit shop.
trying to figure out wat fruit this is from a tree outside our hotel

our room is on the 2nd storey

places to chill (in this weather, steam) outside the room

me: so bad meh????? ok wat.
our masterpieces r packed in a special box.
bought too much!!!!
we chiong straight to this famous coffeeshop for their assam laksa n chendol
this is the best assam laska i've tasted!!!! i am not a laksa person, n this blew me away totally!!!! nt too sour or sweet, it was full of flavors, u can taste the bits of fish inside the gravy.......yumz!
v good prawn noodle too! lighter n sweeter than our version. i liked our version of prawn noodle though.
this chendol needs no introduction. the best chendol in penang. hands down.

look at the Q.  u noe its the good stuff.

chillax! went to this cafe to nua. look at the selection of pastries n cakes n desserts

stop starring at the little nonya poster on top

assam fish. they've adjusted the portion for the 2 of us. super super super tasty!!!!!! i can eat 8 bowls of rice w this. the gravy was so yummy. the right amt of sourness, spiciness, sweetness.......
hainanese pork chop!!! wout ketchup!!!!! definitely tasted better than the sweet counter part. i like! but baby preferred the sweet version.
beansprouts w salted fish. fragrant n crispy. good!
the shop opened at 5pm, closed at 7pm. apparently, we were the last customers. hahahahaha. power leh the shop. but the uncle owner is v nice. he told us that he saw us loitering around a few times (yikes!), suggesting us where to get good food n things like that.....:)

Day 3 (20/07)

dim sum bfast. how good can it be? look at the porridge trolley. awesome, isnt it? basically, it works like the old days. u call, they come.

 "does not contain stimulants"

dim sum is cheap n good here! will definitely come bk nxt time

if u realised, no coffee yet! so baby n i went to the cafe in the hotel for some coffee fix. its free btw. included in the bfast. the cafe oozes out uber nostalgic feel. (muz act melancholy)
they hav good selection of kuehs n pastries for bfast

coffee + kamquat. nt exactly a good combi for bfast
the mama shop at the roadside

me: eh, i wan to call my fren, but i forgot the lumber leh....oh, nvm, i check from my hp.
 《无聊透顶之你当我是白痴吗?》
