Baby's Birthday Bash 2013

as always, baby's bday celebration stretches thru the week
machiam superstar.hahaha
took halfday leave on the actual day for this awesome lunch at ember.

super tasty (and warm!!!) bread w sundried tomato. crispy outside, soft n warm inside.....we asked for additional servings for this.

the ever tasty foie gras w mirin sauce n mushroom. its still so good!
the server recommended the bamboo clams for appetiser. crispy n sweet!
the bacon bits works well w the clam. yummy.

we have to reserve our main course when we made the reservations. luckily we did! it ran out when we reached at 12.45pm! yes, so popular. this is the ribeye. tender n juicy, melted in ur mouth totally w all the meaty goodness dancing in your mouth.....
this is the best duck confit i've ever tasted. crispy outside, tender (yes, very tender) n juicy (amazing!) inside. wat else can u ask for?

beef comes w hand cut wedges w homemade mayo n ketchup.
juz look at the beef. perfectly cooked.
hw can i miss the pear tart w bailey's ice cream???? absolutely perfect.

baby's dessert, nougat w lychee sorbet, was super nice! i've nv eaten anything like this before! the dessert is incredibly light, the nuts in the nougat were crispy n nicely caramelized, balanced w the light lychee sorbet. one of the tastiest desserts i've eaten.

 吃花, 花痴
 does this look familiar?

yes la yes la, i noe la. i've mentioned previously that i WILL NOT go back again.....but alas, we missed italy too much!!!! this is the closest we can get locally....so, well.
 buratta is best here.
rich n creamy inside, cheesy milky goodness. the tomato is so so sweet. do remember to order if they have it in their daily specials.
server recommended moscato. v good! love the sweet grape flavour.
ordered a bellini for baby. i finished 80% of it eventually.
grilled polpo!!! best we've had here. tender n full of grilled flavour. i love this.
snapper w tomato sauce. super big thick pc of fish. made me so full ltr.
giant prawn w squid ink linguini. reminded us of rome! pasta cooked al dente, w the natural saltiness from the squid ink. together w the roasted gralic, which is sweet n fragrant....n the prawn, big n meaty.....i can eat this everyday.

3 servers came n sang birthday song, lighting up my dessert on fire. c hw excited baby was.

 chocolate semi-freddo w sabayon middle.
 e famous chantily cake.

italian meal = end w espresso
yes, this is where we r seated. in a "hole". v cosy n private (abit hot for me though).

we flew off to bangkok the next day to continue the celebration (n oso watch my Man U play!)

hotel is great! v near MBK. n the place is spacious n clean. good.
we were determined to find this famous wanton noodles at pratunum. went to the old address n couldnt find it. luckily i've done some research b4 we came. found them at the new address.

VERY NICE. i had 2 bowls of the dry version. the soup version was good too! n the secret behind the tasty noodles???
LOADS of LARD!!!! calorie meter shoot up!!!!
hw can we miss the fabulous crepe across the road???? i sprained my ankle on my way to this stall. wth.

super big crepe w loads of filling. v tasty! best crepe i've had.
 trying to finish it.
we shopped at platinum for few hours, n went back to the hotel to prepare for our dinner at napa. bought this salad at the roadside as pre-dinner snack. wah lau eh. damn spicy!!!! wat is not spicy in thailand anyway????
went back to napas 26 for dinner. we love the service and the food here. they actually noe my name even b4 i told them. hehe. good service!
 a very dark picture.
 much better lighting
amuse bouche. salmon tatare w caviar. nice n refreshing.
our appetiser. trio of scallop with vanila cream sauce, king prawn with beetroot tartare and boston lobster pomelo salsa
the lobster was juicy n sweet. baby comment abt the slight bitter after taste of the sauce. i think it was all right though.
the prawn was "meaty" n the sweet n sour sauce goes really well with the prawn.
this is the pan fried scallop w vanilla sauce. awesome. scallop is plum n sweet, cooked perfectly. n the sauce is rich n flavourful. best scallop.
i remembered this dish to be very tasty. however, the angel hair w truffles tasted horrid this time. it was very bitter. we sent one back to the kitchen, and they replaced a new dish for us. the new one still tasted slightly bitter. i think it might b due to the truffle oil they used. we didnt finish this dish n the servers were v worried. kept asking us whether everything was ok, hw they can help us/replace a new dish to make us feel better. service impeccable.
palate cleanser. lime n lychee sorbet.
this is out of the world. grain fed rack of lamb, vegetables, romaine leaf, dried fruits-walnut crumbs, lamb jus. the lamb is juicy n tender, w the crispy crust outside. love the lamb flavour. v nice.
this is the barramundi w peas n miso reduction. v v nice! light n tasty. baby loved this.
rasberry souffle w basil sauce. the basil sauce actually lifted the rasberry flavor, making it more fruity. its amazing hw the chef can blend thai flavors w other flavors.
jasmine tea panna cotta. again, super fragrant, light n satisfying.
my dessert wine. muscat from california. they actually let me try b4 i decided to order. again, impeccable service.
espresso. nice! reminds me of italy.
petite 4 (but there r 5!!!!), compliments from the chef. the small cakes were so tasty. chocolate, fruits, vanilla, butter....one word - fantastic!
the staff helped us to arrange for transport back to the hotel, sending us all the way INTO the cab, making sure that the cab driver noes where he was going. n baby got a rose on her way out of the restaurant! u tell me, where to get this kind of treatment.
we went to this shop below our hotel for bfast.good find!
loads of chilli-s covered under this "cage".

 their fishball noodles is nice!
 pat thai. bit mushy though.
instead of going chatuchuk, we went to or tor kor mkt.
 baby: si beh zua ah!

the pineapple here is damn sweet!

this stall sells garlic. all different kinds. amazing.
yes yes. we shopped around, n sat down for food again!

 baby: ai jiak simi.......

duck bee hoon soup. v nice!
thai kuay chap. too sweet for me. the lady boss is damn chio. i dun mind order this again.....hahahahaha.
red ruby dessert. too sweet for me.
baby drinking the thai orange (tangerine) juice.
i duno wat they call this, but we simply love this thai crepes!
i never noe our company's pdt is so popular. can b utilized totally.
went back to the shop downstairs for quick dinner b4 the match.
 basil pork is great!
grilled pork salad. damn tasty!!!! i love pork in thailand!!!!
the distance from our hotel to the stadium is suppoesd to b 20 mins. in the end, we reached the stadium after 1hr 15mins of jam. traffic is definately a bitch here.
anyway, there were tons of Man U fans in the premises already when we reached.

i have to squeeze thru a crowd to tk this pix. dun u find the msg abit lame????
look at the ppl ouside the stadium. i heard its a sold out crowd at 40k++ ppl. mad mad mad.

everyone wans a piece of themselves appearing in this world tour.

note the man behind me. we took 2 pix liao he still figuring out hw to tk a pix using his hp.

the entry "tickets" r actually cards featuring the players!

look at hw close the bloody ang mo is sitting infront of me. bloody asshole. he is making himself TOO comfortable here.

the devils's march
muz sing national anthem.

the devil mascot
y the fu** face???
look at the bloody score. wat a disgrace. i was so disappointed. they play like crap. my thai driver (who came n picked us up after the match, which i think, is a god sent) laughed at me on our way back to the hotel. he told me "although i love Man U, i love my country more". ya la. the thai team was a better team that day. it was fun though, c-ing the Man U fans braved the traffic to b in the stadium (while we were v cosy in a private van), crapping w the driver abt other teams (think blue), how we like Man U.....i like the driver. v responsible n jovial. made our rides to n fro the stadium a very pleasent one. for those of u who wants his contact, u can ask me. their service is good.
last day of our trip started w a diet of my champange grapes. look hw small they r. super sweet n "grape-y"

went to our fav cafe at siam paragon for lunch b4 catching our flight.

my all time fav, thai iced tea (w ice cubes made from tea!!!)
 a v good pat thai
their v famous chix wings. B.E.S.T  E.V.E.R. v well marinated, crispy outside, tender inside. as a sucker for chix wings (i can skip all the food in the world, but not chix wings), this is as good as it gets. v good.
my pasta with chix liver n bacon. the green slices of sour green papaya on top helps to cut the meaty-ness of the pasta. too sour for me though. but its nice la.
aftermath of war w chix wings.
having a cup of cuppa at starbucks in the airport.
baby: i am hungry, i wan to eat my donut
yes, we got these at paragon too. a muz hav in bangkok.

that very much sums up our v short trip to bangkok.
we will b back soon.
