Recent craze

trying to c wat pix i've taken for the past mth, n i realised one thing.
i am going into a jap-viet craze.





 the meatballs r really good! i will prefer pho from the other shop though.
 braised duck tongue from another viet shop. this is super tasty!
 goes v well w the fabulous banh mi. best ever.
 this is the jap sashimi carve i will hav every 2 mths.
 i wun b able to skip this.big n sweet,
 look at the overflowing seafood. i've always swear nt to order this nxt time, cos we really cant finish this. but i've ALWAYS ate my words. i will ALWAYS order this. :)
 super delicious aburi salmon rolls.
 juz to show u that my fav type of fare is still hawker food. this is the best prawn mee so far. my version is w extra pork skin :)
 took the bus to gardens n ate the fab waffles n lemon meringue pie!
 met the mad woman colleague for dinner at this ramen shop.
 i've ordered the fire noodles!!!! damn spicy ya, good food here.


 we wanted to go to our fav waffle shop after dinner n found that they r no longer in operation! there goes my waffles. v v sad abt it. we went to this cafe nearby instead.

 someone finally shw some interest to learn hw to cycle. but alas, it started raining. wat the hell man.

 after like 1 hr, the rain stopped.

 still buay sai. nvm, she's getting there. i am sure she'll make it nxt time.
 we took the pre theatre package for our musical mama mia.





 food was good. i've always enjoyed dinning at DB. will b back for their steak.
 i realised that i've nt played w lego for a long long time. it took me awhile to figure out the diff parts of the pieces before i build them. gor gor was better than me. way better. this child have talent!
 this was supposed to b his bday present, but he was too excited, so he juz ripped the present open n pulled me in to play w him. glad he liked it! :)
 mei mei tried to b a darling by trying to sai nai to me after being urged by baby to build her lego. mei mei hav NO patience to build lor. sigh.
 gor gor try to b funny.

 wanted to take a selfie w mei mei, when i asked her to "press", gor gor came from nowhere outside the frame to press the shoot button, hence this flustered shot. so funny man these kids.
 zai zai took the completed master piece to play it himself. did i mention dat he is into stickers recently? *hint: look at his face.

success. zai zai gave her a love hug when we leave the house. :) my boy is v cute hor.

还记得这道在食神心目中,他吃过最好吃的东西吗?

1995年,《金玉满堂》/《满汉全席》中的厨神钟镇涛对失去味觉的妻子说:“有时候,吃到世上最好的东西并不代表幸福。你煮的菜,是我这辈子吃过最好吃的东西。”

好吃,对我来说,是很主观的。
可是究竟标准在哪里?

最近冒起了网路美食家,大家争相地报道着美食的聚集地。餐厅邀请他们来做评论/宣传。在这个资讯爆炸的年代,这种宣传方式确实奏效。大家争相地到被报道的餐厅消费,让自己看起来很时尚,很updated。
所谓的美食家变成了职业。他们主宰了餐厅的命运。

吃,谁不会?
说得一口好菜,那有何难?
anyway,什么是“好菜”?

我最近读了一篇有关名厨不合的消息。我想,在同业间的竞争是无可厚非的。
你说我煮得不好,我说你没有品味。
ok,很平常。
但是身为厨师的你又能接受多少来自食客的批评?尤其是那些讲得天花乱坠,却十指不粘阳春水的家伙。
你他x的会煮吗?

吃,谁都会。喜好因人而异。
你绝对没有资格说别人煮得不好吃。充其量只能说那食物不合你口味。
厨师们就像艺术家。煮出来的菜是艺术品。看不懂?就直说你不懂,不要说别人画得很烂。

最近有个狗屁美食专家,批评本地的某某食物不够道地,要我们向泰国多多学习。
你他X的是哪根葱啊?
我为什么要一个味觉因为长期吸烟而退化,不是本地人的老色鬼的人来告诉我什么是道地的食物?这位先生曾经把一整颗白松露往嘴里塞。很会吃吗?真他X的浪费食材。
最后还回答记者:“你们要自生自灭,关我什么事?”
他X的,不关你事还哈拉那么多?

FU** OFF la!!!!

道不道地,还由不得你说。
常常有邻国的朋友说:“你们国家的东西都不好吃的。”
呐,又来了。
什么才算好?
你只能说我们的食物不合你胃口吧!
这些你们所谓的不好吃的东西可是我们成长的回忆呢!
请尊重一下别人,好吗?
你到别人家做客吃饭时,也不会说别人家的饭菜不好吃吧?

朋友常说我和baby很chi chi atas, 吃的都是贵的食物。
很highclass咩?
不见得。
我是想说,我们很乐意尝试新的创意,可是论味道、喜好,我们可是有不一样的坚持。
心,最重要。
我最爱的食物是吃了三十几年的云吞面。同一摊的哦。老板娘从我三岁时就看着我长大。
当然,还有我妈煮的菜。全天下最棒的食物。
那不是米其林三星主厨所煮出来的料理,也不是什么山珍海味。
但,那是我熟悉的味道,承载着我多少的成长记忆的味道。
这,才是最好吃的东西。最珍贵的味道。
这,是我们的“黯然销魂饭”。

道地味道=我们共同拥有与分享的回忆。

Restaurant week 2014

baby and i hv decided to try smth diff this yr. no more ang mo makan.
we went for peranakan n jap.
good choice.

 menu
 even the chopstick rest is so atas.



 appetizer is spinach w shrimp. v fresh n light flavors w the delicate  sweetness of the shrimp. v v nice!
 yellow tail n scallop sashimi. my oh my. this is by far the best yellow tail sashimi i've tasted locally. v v v fresh n meaty (the fish way).....i can taste the sea in my mouth.
 braised wagyu cheek was melt in ur mouth good w robust flavors. v nice.

 tuna don.the tamago was excellent. it was JUICY. yes. juicy. by this time we were so full already.
meal ended w sweet melon. a v delicate dinner.
 2nd destination nxt day for restaurant week
 讲到吃就见牙不见眼。

 super tasty kueh pie tee!!!! best ever!!!! cup was crispy n thin, prawn was sweet, filling was juicy n fragrant.....sedap!
 smoked duck breast appetizer. the meat was tender n sweet, w slight smoked flavor. v good. 
 cod w laksa sauce. innovative dish. the fish went well w the fragrant laksa sauce. rich n flavorful.
 someone is exclaiming at my rib dish.
 braised short ribs w sambal sauce. rich n robust flavors w the sweet n spicy sambal sauce. w filling.
 jiak buay lor liao
awesome coconut panna cotta w chocolate moose and nut toppings. smooth n silky. v good end to the meal. we will b back for more!
