yes folks.
i went thailand one mth after my operation.
steady bo?
haha. no la, i've "redeemed" the air tix in 2010. so ya., die die muz go.
wanted to fix my teeth and make my suit for my wedding.
but bleh.
the teeth makeover is a failure. i've decided to drop the idea after i've consulted the dentisit in BK.
so here's the update for my trip!

Day 1

reached the hotel at about 10 plus in the morning. they were kind enuff to let us check in early.

room is spacious and clean, near mrt stn, lots of ang mos around the area....nt bad la.

after we unload our luggage, we went to khaosan road to walk around.

TONS of guai lou. some topless, walking around.

ok, BK is v hot. but topless? hmmm. maybe they can reduce their adipose tissues 1st b4 doing that nxt time. better for other tourists.

baby n i went to s shop for some thai food.

super hot. i am sweating like a pig.

baby happy to have her coconut drink after like an hr walk outside (juz to find food).ok, me fault. i was picky on wat to eat for lunch.hehe.

our 1st tom yum gong in thai. nt as spicy as those we had in singapore. in fact, this is sweeter n easier to drink.for me? well, i like the spicier version in singapore.

my 1st pat thai. hmmmm.....nt bad la. i've added too much chilli powder, so it turned out to b super spicy....moderation is impt.

went bk to hotel to rest after that.

n we didnt even buy a thing from there.

too ex.

super duper tired.

baby bought these 2 pairs of "room slippers" downstairs (hotel). super disgusting flower design. dun look at me like this. as if i hav a choice. ma de.

we went to the dentist for my appt b4 we went khaosan.

they were v ethical.

the one in singapore keep asking me to make veneers for my teeth, saying that braces r nt good for me.

the one in BK asked me to think twice.

i chg my mind when i saw the mock up.

i look hideous.

instead of looking better w nicer teeth, i look like bucks bunny.

wtf?

so, ya. it was goodbye veneers.

we went to walk around in siam square after we went to the tailor, n we realised that the ppl in BK dun really eat from shops. they like street food. the streets r spwaning w hawkers, n locals buy their food n eat as they walk around. baby n i walked a great deal b4 we found this restaurant for dinner.

i forgot the rationale behind the pix. but we look fugly in this pix. hahaha.

thai ice tea n lemon grass tea. yumz! i simply love the thai iced tea. there is smth in it that makes it hav the extra fragrant. muz find out wat.

a mediocre prawnn tang hoon.

veg w mushroom. nt bad la.

me: wah lau eh, y u scoop so slow? i very hungree leh.
baby: so fast for wat? i scared the pineapple get hurt ah.

baby wanted to try their pineapple rice.ok lor.so so.

after a "so so" meal (ok la, to b fair, it was quite cheap la), we were damn tired bcos of the walking, so went went bk to rest.

save our energy for the all impt task tmr.

SHOPPING!!!!

Day 2

baby n i geared up after bfast at hotel.

shopping shopping shopping!

yes. we went platinum for our "virgin" shopping experience in BK.

n wat a right choice we've made!!!

no more chatuchak or the guai lou infested khaosan.

it will always b platinum in the future.

we cant even finish one level of shops after like 3 hrs!

super hungry after splurging.

my yum yum fried beehoon. super Q, spicy, n tasty!!!!best fried bee hoon/mee/pat thai i've eaten in BK! full of robust flavours. n the meat they gave.wah seh. halo, chix no nd money one ah? so much?????

baby's fried mummy noodles. nice oso. abit sweeter than mine. baby love it.

at the end of the meal, i realised that the chilli here oso free one. nearly died of cardiac arrest due to heart burn by chilli.

we went bk to the hotel to unload our goods after another 2 hrs of shopping.

super tired ah.

end up, this pair of bloody slippers made my feet so painful that i nd to BUY a new pair AGAIN after 2 days. ^#%^&%#.

Day 3

baby: ok, lets time, now is 12pm. lets c wat time we reach our destination

me: but, but.....its sooooooooooo far!!!!!!

nvm, far ma far lor. we found A&W.

baby happy w the root beer float served in the frozen mug.

wah lau eh. who can resist this? y they close down all the outlets in singapore?????

can someone call the CEO of A&W? i wan my zha ji n curly fries back.

yes, we drank 2 mugs of root beer.

i wan to bring u home.

the root beer certainly gave us the power to shop till we drop at platinum again.

bought stuff like nobody's biz.

finding A&W really gave us the right boost in confidence to find our nxt destination.

this chinese rstaurant was featured in anthony bourdian's shw.

i've done extensive research on it, n i am v confident dat it will b fairly easy to find.

WRONG.

we took the train to the relavant stn, n starting walking to chinatown.

according to the "reliable" info, we r supposed to walk like 300 m b4 we can find this shop.

bloody nonsense.

we walked.

end up, we asked the hawker in chinatown.

ok.. then we walk again.

we took cab.

cab driver oso duno where.

ok, nvm.

he dropped us IN chinatown.

went into dark lanes.

we asked ppl.

after walking like 1hr in chinatown, hungry, tired n hot, (n i was abt to give up liao, but baby insisted that we shd nt give up), we approached a security guard from a building.

he helped us by asking ANOTHER hawker.

they pointed to a dark lane.

we walked.

n WE FOUND THIS RESTAURANT.

FINALLY.

my poor baby sipping tea. she was cursing bourdian non stop.

come here liao of cos muz eat well. the claypot shark's fin. one pot each.

baby's fibre. fried kangkong.v nice wok hei n veg is still super crispy. nice.

椒盐濑尿虾. super nice! crispy skin w sweet n tender meat. so much better then those we had in HK. the boss asked us in teochew "u wan 2 pcs rite?" n baby said yes. when they served this dish to us, it was like a mountain of prawns. i was like" r u sure this is 2 pcs?". super mega portions.

yes, the shark's fin.

this is the braised goose web w noodles. v v tasty. n it is damn heavy (taste) too. the feet were well briased. my lips went sticky w collagen after my 1st bite. v v soft, melts in ur mouth texture.good dish.

look at the roe in the prawn! wah lau eh, i swear this is one to the best thing i've eaten in my life man. the meat is damn sweet n springy, w the rich flavour from the roe......oh man.best.

they served us complimentry dessert too. this is the yam fried in sugar. a v difficult teochew dessert. is was surprisingly light and fluffy. v nice.

overall, its a good meal. worth my time looking for it.

but the best thing they serve is the roast suckling pig.

which we didnt try, bcos they oni serve one full pig.

i will become one if we order that.

Day 4

we went for a second fitting at my tailor's shop. its actually for baby. she nd some alterations for her pants.

very hot la.

baby: i am going to make MORE clothes today!

our tailor told us that baby's pants still nd some alterations to make the shape look nicer (sorry, i am nt an expert here, so i hav no idea wat he is toking abt). we will nd to go bk to the shop ltr that day for another fitting. my tailor dun wan us to spend money n get some sub-standard stuff.

v ethical n good service. i even had a ice cold coke when i was waiting for baby.

we went to MBK to spend some time.

hungry after shopping. cheap steaks available.

we bought dunkin donuts from MBK.

we went bk to the tailor in the evening.
baby had always wanted to b a designer. n since the tailor was nt free to entertain us at that time, baby starts to do things to entertain herself.

baby: ok come, i take ur measurement.

baby: sir, this cloth is suitable for u....

baby: faster faster, i am bery busy one (actually she's afraid that the tailor will come bk n find her doing crap things to his shop)

baby: hey sir, this is the MOST expensive cloth in our shop. make sure u can pay ok.....

baby: sir, i muz warn u again, our cloth is expensive n good quality one ok.....

baby: service is top priority for us, so ya, my smile is free one.

me: i wan ur smile for wat.

baby: but its free one ma. c, i is good, give u FREEBIES.

me: my punch is oso free one.

we took a pink cab to chinatown for dinner after that.

n i really mean pink.

interior n exterior.

baby chose this restaurant bcos they specialise in bird's nest.

this is nt a flower pot or vase. can eat one. spring onion bazaar.

we were sitting BELOW the air con.super cold.

dou miao. nice.

shark's fins again! this time we opt for the plain soup one. i preferred the one we had in TZJ. this is too bland for me, but baby likes this more.

this is nt tang hoon served in shell.

inside got scallop one ok. abit too fishy though. baby dun like it. end up i ate 5 by myself.

steamed fish w lime, garlic, chilli. dun b fooled by the appearance. it is SUPER SPICY!!! the most spicy thing i've eaten in thailand. the fish was v v fresh ("scooped" out from the aquarium, then steamed), n the meat was soft n tender. v v nice. but it was really spicy. so spicy that our stomach started to growl after we ate it. u can seriously finish a bucket of rice w this fish alone.

to compensate, we ordered bird's nest. one each. to soothe our body.hahahaha.

this is baby's "red" bird's nest. tasted normal though.

they come w accompaniments of gingko nuts, longan and sugared honey dates.

this is my serving of nest. i've ordered a slightly superior quality one. my oh my. what a difference! i can clearly taste the "eggy" taste of the bird's nest. soft jelly like texture (diff from low quality nest, which will taste like jelly). this is really good stuff.n its damn cheap!

after this, baby told me that she wants to have this EVERYDAY as long as we r in BK.

I AGREED.

Day 5

baby sorting out her loot.

went to pay respect to the 4 faced buddha at siam.

i did this b4 the liverpool vs Man U match. sorry. i didnt noe this will cos karma to my team. but anyway, to hell w SG.hahahaha.

baby n i w nemo+a baby girl. we cant stop the baby girl from pulling nemo's fin. so well.

thai iced tea again! ahha. my fav.

baby n our 1st papaya salad in BK. it is refreshing n light. whoever say it is sour? hmmmm....

tom yum gong again.

i was all excited n hyped up when i noe that they hav a sea world in siam square. after all the begging, baby gave in n we went to seaworld!

baby: c, my face so small compared to the crab.

me: no leh, ur face look bigger.
baby: yeah meh?me: yeah. stop lying to urself

i am communicating w the future "paul" for some 4D numbers.

baby was trying to show how big this fish is. it is swimming v fast, so its v difficult to catch a glimpse of it.

look at the size of fish compared to the little girl.now u noe how BIG the fella is?

baby kept calling this fish " ah gong3". i say it shd b called "ah gong1". this fish is super big.

these small fishes r supposed to eat up our dead skin from our feet. wah lau eh, super itchy man. its like electricity on ur feet. wtf.

i managed to persuade baby to take the "clear bottom" boat w me. she is putting on the life jacket unwillingly.

this guai lou couple threw one small shrimp into the water n the fishes went nuts!!!! they swarmed our boat n we had water splashed onto our faces!

c, baby enjoyed it eventually.

we went for a tour at the backhouse after the boat ride. hav to wait for 11 minutes.

wanted to do this but baby freaked out when i mentioned this to her.

sharks' eggs

sorry, the shark was swimming real fast.blurry shark.

these r the fried suid n octopus eggs we bought. no, we didn't get them from the seaworld. we bought them from the food court in siam paragon. tasty. abit too chewy though.

the eggs r definitely nt enuff as dinner, so we took a cab to chinatown for dinner.

n luckily we ate the eggs b4 we took the cab.

the traffic in BK is HORRIBLE.

it took us abt 1.5hrs to get to chinatown (distance is abt serangoon to orchard rd).

crawling speed.

we were famished when we reached chinatown. *wink to baby* (i rem the 在曼谷街头的拖鞋story).

braised duck tongue. v tasty. the "lor zap" is damn good. tongue (the duck's, nt mine) is soft n chewy. i love it.

beef w kai lan. wok hei felt. beef tender n juicy.

baby say i la ji w duck. she angry.

this is way better compared to those we've had on our 1st day. love their seasoning for the tang hoon.

bird's nest again. superior quality one.

baby is feeling the effects of the bird's nest.

the tailor delivered or orders to our hotel. we've made 10 shirts, 4 pants n 2 skirts in total. n it cost abt 800 sing in total. all tailored. n we choose our own design.

baby even got her initials on her shirt. for free. customised to max.

i designed this shirt myself. (ok, nt all, steal the idea from someone in improved on it)

baby n i trying to improve on our dry skin condition (super dry in BK).

baby's order. the std here is pretty close to that of singapore's ootoya. nt bad la.

we went bk to pack our stuff(bought TOO much) n asked for late check out.

2pm. nt bad leh.

then we proceed to chantown (AGAIN) for dinner.

at 9pm. hahahahaha. super late.

i've ordered jumbo oysters.

very big

it is crunchy in texture. nt v "ang mo" feel. i prefer creamy n sweet ones.....but this is fresh la. hmmmm....

after the very-spicy-fish-last-time-until-our-pat-dor-cheng, we've decided to order a "normal" steam fish this time. v v fresh fish. sweet n tender. nice.

look at hw big the fish is.....bigger than baby's face! :p

ladies n gentlemen, this is the dish i hav been wanting to order since day 3. one group of singaporeans came to the restaurant n asked " can one person finish this plate of tongue?" n the waitress answered no. this is deep fried duck tongue. i asked baby for permission n she let me order the dish. the tongues were briased in dark sauce, then fried. my oh my. i love this. crispy n fragrant, yet tender n soft inside. u can taste the fragrance of the spices used in the braise sauce. v v nice.i can still rem the taste of this dish as i typed. i wan.
