D&D and Xmas

hey folks.
hw's xmas? for me, it was a damn busy week after i came bk from biz trip.
attended or comapny D&D on 6th Dec.

baby took a pix of me b4 the even. we were at billy bombers for milkshake.

i think baby look v different dat day. super pretty. but the pix dun do her justice. blame it on my lousy camera. hahaha.

celebrated xmas w my family w some food from cold storage n a cake from baker's inn.

tender roast chix w stuffing. yumz.

prawns for mum's fried bee hoon. yes, we ate bee hoon for xmas....hahaha

honey pork ribs. super duper nice!!!!

sushi platter for mum. end up she dun like the stuff in it....waste my money....

ham. too salty for my liking

tiramisu from baker's inn. too wet. i think i make better ones.

we wanted to booze ourselves to death dat day, but end up wout drinking any wines i brought.

WTF???

mum kept asking " u all wan to drink or nt???"

hahahaha.

too bad. nxt time maybe.

White Truffles + Riverdance

updates on my past few weeks.
went to fulfil my white truffles dream at otto.
baby n me went for lunch. to try their food, as well as to get a taste of the most expensive fungi in the world.
WHITE TRUFFLES........

the amuse bouche. fried mushroom w tomato puree. not bad.

no no. this is NOT a pc of ginger. ladies n gentlemen, this is the precious WHITE TRUFFLES. yes, the bring out, let u smell, then weight, n shave them into ur dish. in front of u. to prove that the didnt cheat on the weight (fyi, 1 gram cost us 30 bucks).

eggs w fresh crabmeat n of cos, white truffles shavings. yes, this cost us abt 50 bucks.

but i muz tell u, its worth all the money. the crab meat was so so so so sweet, n the eggs....wah....rich n flavourful. and the WHITE TRUFFLES......omg.....the taste was simply DIVINE. i cant describe it w words. the taste still lingered in my mouth after 3 hrs.....my god.....

yes, try it urself. u will love it.its now the white truffle season(till 31st dec). u still have time to do it.

the truffle dish is an extra order. this is one of the appetiser from our set lunch. salmon carpaccio with cucumber puree. refreshing dish.

baby's ham w potato salad. normal.

lobster w eggplant smth......ok lor.

baby's chix breast w balsamic vinegar reduction.....ok oso.

my dessert. chocolate mousse. yummy.

baby's chocolate and pistachio ice cream.

we ended our meal w cappuccino.

on the whole, the meal was juz ok.

the highlight is of cos the white truffles.

simply love the taste.

i will go bk for the truffles again.

after the meal, baby n i went for haircut.

waited for 4 hrs (baby dyed her hair), n its time for dinner.hahaha.

we went across the street for dinner.

帝皇菜苗,fresh n crispy. so fresh until baby found a mega big worm in the veg when we've ALMOST finished eating.....hahahaha.

claypot rice. not bad.

radish soup. light n refreshing. v nice.

BBQ squid

baby n i went to marina sands for riverdance last weekend.

performance was superb (although the lighting went crazy after halftime).

baby spinach w eggplant. w special. salad dressing was mirin w sesame seed. nice.

bone marrow. interesting dish.

super duper tasty suckling pig. crispy skin, soft n moist meat....v nice. baby n i were thinking of ordering a second for this......

baked camembert cheese w apple sauce. rich.

lamb rib w cumin. aquired taste. quite nice though. well seasoned. baby liked it.

big boss took us to a super expensive teppanyaki shop in kyoto. this was my 1st drink

my boss was entertaining the big bosses (in japanese) while i juz "switched off" beside him...haha

n they serve FRESH wasabi!!! freshly grated by urs truly. it tasted NOTHING like the instant stuff. this is sweet n light. goes very well w the meat......

ladies n gentlemen.....TOP GRADE WAGYU BEEF!!!!! this is the best thing i've ever eaten in my life (at the moment). melts in ur mouth like butter, w the meaty sweetness from the juice....omg....give me more give me more!!!!

this, my frens, is the famous S$80++ honeydew. v v v v sweet, w strong honeydew fragrant. no wonder its so ex.....this meal, cost abt S$200++ per pax......

n i had the same stuff (w fresh abalone and seafood) the nxt day too....supplier treat us to extravagant lunch....hahahahaha.....i was a happy man.......

boss brought me the famous shrine in kyoto. it was amazing as they seldom open at night. my boss told me that i was super lucky. :)

u hav to go n c it urself. my lousy camera cant really take down the actual beauty of it. i am not a temple person, but i was in awe. it was autum, dats y the leaves r all red.v beautiful (but too cold)

we had dinner at the bottom of the hill. kaiseki cuisine (super ex again.....hahaha)

puffer fish!!! n i am so alive still. hahaha.nt much taste leh...n the meat is pretty hard...hmmmm

we took the train back to tokyo.

my boss insisted me try this. hot corn soup in a can. n it is super hot lor. scalded my lips...n salty leh....nice meh....haha....

Anniversary Celebration

baby n i went valentino(again) for our anniversary

i cant resist their warm bread roll everytime

mozarella cheese wrapped in parma ham n pan fried. soft, creamy cheese, w salty crispy parma ham....contrast in mouthfeel n flavor....super nice.....

fried anchovies w rockets.....sweet fish....v nice

braised veal cheek w risotto and potatoes. the veal melts in ur mouth, beefy after taste w rosemary fragrance, oozy risotto, al dente w a bite, n the potatoes....omg. they were the best potatoes i've eaten in my life. HOW DO THEY DO IT???? it is not powdery (like the norm potatoes). they r like, chewy, sweet, savoury.....cant describe. u need to taste them urself.

emily is her name. champagne mousse w strawberry jelly.

kinabaru. baby's fav cake. i love its passion fruit n coconut combi. light n refreshing, yet v interesting flavours.....love it.

this is the chocolate mousse cake w lemon cream. we tasted a tinge of herb in this cake. n when we asked the lady boss, she told us that it is BASIL. omg!!!! basil in cakes???? simply brilliant touch.

i will go back for more cakes next week.

although they r nt cheap. but worth ur every cent.

haha.
