CNY 2013

its that time of the yr yet again.

CNY.

totally hate it.

to me its juz a stretch of boring days, staying at hm, wayang here n there.

the best part is oni eating nw. (too old to recv ang bow).

it is a ritual for my family to have awesome pork porridge w century egg and fried mee/bee hoon on the 1st day morning of CNY.

 this is the 3rd bowl of porridge for me (dats y abit watery liao....) w marinated pork, dried oysters, dried scallops and lots of spring onions n chilli!!!

 shark's fin. shhhhhh. dun tell the environmentalist......

 chef at work. i am the assistant on this very impt day.

 talking abt cny feasting. these r oni my lunch for the 1st day.

 

 nt many shops open during cny, so baby n i went to this italian bistro for lunch during the long hoilday. baked eggplant.so so la.

 our fav pizza w porcini n black truffles.

 crabmeat linguine. this is delicious. i preferred this to the one at valentino. the sauce is lighter here, but it was packed w flavours from the sea. the crabmeat is so fresh n sweet n the pasta is cooked just rite for me. the one at valentino is richer n their ingredients r more premium (they use more cheese n cream n better tomatoes). ah well. its all subjective la. both r good. but i like the flavour of this more. :)

 

 baby likes this version of tiramisu. smooth, creamy n silky. i think it lack the punch from the coffee n alcohol. so so for me.

 

 baby n i wnet to this sushi place at liang court recently to try out their sushi. good! the ingredients r fresh, n its easy on our wallets. cheap n good! (forget ita****, it sux already). these oysters a so fresh n sweet. left a smile on my face after i slurp them into my semi-full stomach. yumz.

 this is a freaky looking sushi. sakura shrimps. v v v fresh n sweet. too fresh for baby. i ate 2 of this at one go. the freshness of the shrimps burst into my mouth. i had a sea of baby prawns swimming in my mouth.

 

the feasting season is yet to b over.

we will have loads of gatherings coming up.

control control. everything is under control.

Back before CNY

hey folks, i am back!

after an agonising 2 weeks, i am back to sub-normal life.

sub, as in, strict diet to follow.

old wife's tale leh i think.

cannot eat this, cannot eat that......n the list keeps getting longer.

until i cannot tahan.

sigh.

i juz wan to say, those who havent gt chix pox yet, pls go jab. its v painful to get it when u r older.

n i got it for the 2nd time. toking abt taking for granted.

n i''ve passed the virus to my bro, who got it the 2nd time as well.

 baby n i tried the hi-tea set from tcc. i muz say the hav great ideas for their hi-teas. we always look forward to their hi-tea sets.

 this is one small little bakery that sells middle eastern pastries. look at the lemonade. taste refreshing (aka sour la). didnt take the pix of the pastries (forgot). but its too sweet for us. dun think we will go bk.

 think baby's new hairdo looks like 杨怡. no?

 this is the legendary "snake"at chinatown. looks like sperm to me.

 my VP put this on my desk to welcome me after my 2 weeks MC. kns. he purposely paste the stickers on the frog to make it full of pock mark. thanks man.

 4 days after my return, we had a dept lunch for CNY. needless to say, i hav to skip alot of dishes.....AGONY.

 the super tasty yu sheng w salmon n fried fish skin. i CANNOT eat lor......sob!

juz look at the 盆菜! the super big abalone.....i dun care lor. it will b dumb of me nt to eat this. boy, this was so tasty man. the abalone is soft n tender, cooked thru, sweet n at the same time savoury......the whole thing was like all the goodness of the sea gathered in this bowl of luxury....v v good.

 the ppl called this the"sea cucumber fish". the skin of this fish is so so so thick, that it reminds us of sea cucumber (thus the name). full of collagen. some tot this fish is too fishy. i think it is ok. v v rich fish.

 yes yes, baby n i went to this cafe at vivo b4 our shw (les miserable). this is supposed to b v famous in japan.

 baby gave the sick face. as i've mentioned previously, this is v famous in japan. so u can predict the customer base in this cafe. baby hates them. to core.

 finally managed to smile when dessert came.

ok,they r famous for a reason. the pastry is crispy n buttery. the ice-cream is rich, silky smooth. goes well w coffee. v nice! will b back for more!

i got chicken pox.
the 2nd time.
what r the odds?
god damn it.
ppl said that the older u get it, the more pain u will experience.
hw true.
i was in so so much pain.
it has been a week since the 1st blister popped out on my face.
n i got like 60 pox on my face. ONLY.
head is full of blisters, mouth is full of ulcers.
i cant even drink water.
this is hw much pain i had.
nt to mention the fever n body aches.
damn it.
pray for me.

Why?

y do i need to b judged like this?

the final leg of the endless yr end feasting.

 baby n i went to this dessert place again for a light afternoon snack. this is the root beer cake. i nv noe root beer goes so well w chocolate! yummy.

 we had waffles n of cos, the super nice eclairs. we will drop by soon for other desserts (n since its so near to my hse.....)

 i am at it again. my version of meatball spaghetti. verdict? ahem. i will nt eat this dish outside again. i think i've made quite a high std benchmark over here.

 the sauce i've cooked coats every strain of the pasta, n its slightly spicy, w the fragrance from the garlic n shallots. meatball abit dry though. will improve on it. :)

 n yes folks, after many many many failed attempts, i've finally pulled it off!!!!!

 moist n fluffy inside!!! i've done it!!!! baby even said that its one of the best she've tasted! (dun true or nt, but stilll am happy) hehe.
