my auntie drowned while she was swimming yesterday.
i'm pretty upset abt it.
she had depression 10 yrs ago, after her only son passed away due to cardiac arrest.
i was the one who picked up the call early in the morning when she told me my cousin's passing.
n she was gone.
now, her husband will b alone in this world, with nobody left.
i duno how he can cope w it.
they were a v loving couple. they lived for each other.
now that she's gone......
i duno.
really.

i am really very upset now.

I think it must b the wedding jitters.
i am nervous n cranky recently.
v stressed up for the preparations.
luckily, we got some help from some good frens n things r on the way......

to relieve my stress, i've indulged myself in yet another food escape.

hey peps, this r the best pineapple cakes from taiwan. they've recently opened a shop at raffles hotel (only one outside taiwan!). the boss n his wife r super nice ppl. pls do go visit their shop at raffles hotel. this really really taste superb. no kidding.

these r the 蠔酥from鹿港. ordered this for dinner after my trial one night in taichung. the oysters r super juicy and sweet, crispy outside. yumz!

their signature dish, 蝦猴酥. super duper duper nice!!!! like juicy prawn crakers! w pepper n salt. n the basil makes it even better! drool.....

oyster mee sua.....wah, i tell u, the stock v v sweet man. v nice man.....

my colleague n i went to the bbq shop nxt to our hotel for dinner after our 2nd day trial.

i tell u, cheap n good. less than 50 bucks per pax lor.....

1st, [ut them into the stove to grill them. literally.

wait till they r puffed up n char abit on the outside.

dunk the hot mua chee into sweet condensed milk n peanut. then....EAT!!!! hot mua chee is chrispy outside, n soft n Q inside. do b careful nt to burn ur tongue though.

bought this near the bbq shop. warm (i am coughing, so no cold drinks) milk tea for 45 NTD. its abt 2 dollars for a gigantic cup.

we went 逢甲夜市the nxt day. this is the famous bear paw bun.

my fav smelly tofu. added extra chilli. shiok max!

this 滷味is famous in the nite mkt. v v nice.

ok, i muz tell u i dun really like this. juz bun n fried patty lor. nt nice to me.

bought this carrot cake from the bfast stall downstairs. crispy n fragrant. v nice. abit oily though.

pepper pork strips wrapped in egg crepe. super tender the pork. yumz.

ok, the 2 above can't satisfy me, so i helped myself w a serving of their best instant noodles in taiwan. lookie, got meat de lor. brilliant.

went fengjia the nxt day again after a biz dinner w the big bosses. i gorge myself w the juicy n soft squid.

this is freaking nice lor. boneless chix feet. spicy. v nice. they hav vaccum packed ones, but nt tat the stall. muz order online one....bleh.

nt bad 鹽水雞.

this is the best pan braised noodles w mushrooms. the noodles r Q, soak w the rich mushroom sauce. good bfast.

still ate lunch at the airport b4 i board the plane.......

eat n eat la. sigh. no wonder still fat.

i duno wat happen.
seem like i am having a streak of really bad experiences in dining recently.

i got this coupons from a web deal. 28 bucks for a supposedly 45 bucks lunch.
sound good rite?
freaking hell.
italian restaurant???? my ass. i can cook better food.
i wun even pay 10 bucks for it.

to start with, we hav to make reservations b4 using the coupon.
ok, fair enuff, cos i've used other coupons for other restaurants n we always hav to call to let them noe. so fine by me.
i called in the morning, for lunch reservation.
the person on the line told me "erm, the timing is too close (it was like 10.30am), i duno whether they will accept ur reservations or nt.....anyway, u can juz walk in"
WTF.
ok, fine. the most i go there n they dun serve me.

then baby n i went down (HV) n reach at 12.30pm.
the restaurant was relatively empty then.
the waitress took our orders.
we waited.
n waited.
n waited.
after 20 mins, salad nt up yet. n the waitress came to me at this point, n ask "excuse me, was that fish or chicken u ordered juz nw?"
WTF.
ok, nvm. better to clarify than to gimme wrong orders rite?
ok, wait.

.
.
.
20 mins, n ppl started to come in. this was when the service took a turn to its worst.
oni two waitresses for the whole lunch service.
3 cooks (i wun even call them chefs). muted ones. nt a sound from them.
baby was served a stale n tastless fish. super fishy w NO taste.
like 3 pcs of rubber w super sweet sauce (brix 20, using my tongue as brix meter).
i asked her to return the dish n ask for an alternative one.
fine. she asked for pasta.
wrong move.
her main was still nt served after i've finished my food.
they put her dish behind other orders.
n i didnt really c food flowing out of the kitchen bcos the other customers r waiting too.
we hav difficulties getting the attention of the waitresses as well.
they were juz walking around, doing unimportant stuff (cleaning glass???).
ok, to b fair, they were understaff.
i tried to ask the waitress abt it, n the ans i got was "u hav to wait bcos they need time to cook it"

baby waited for abt 30 mins to recv her medicore pasta.
no meat. oni few chunks of zuccini n tomatoes. n undercooked pasta. she didnt even finish the food.
dessert n coffee sux as well.
nt to mention that the waitress automatically gave me tea (juz when i least need the discretion) instead of asking me what i wan.

total disgrace to italian food.
call urself a restaurant.
u dun even fit to run a stall.

after such long long silence, i finally got the time to upload the pix i've taken for the past few mths.

we went to this ramen shop at millenia walk (took like 45mins to find!!!!) to try out their black ramen soup base.

verdict? 1st few mouthfuls were awesome. full of flavors n punch from the soup n garlic. v thick n rich soup. after 3 minutes, u start to feel super jer lat. wun b eating this again.

baby n i met up w 3 babes from the audit.

went jerry's n savour the tasty fried mushrooms n buffalo wings!!!! v v nice. I will da bao nxt time for my late night soccer game.....any takers? (hey JQ, our team doing well. wana watch a game together n induldge in chix wings?)

i started to feel v skeptical when the restaurant was nt even half filled w customers, but full of waiters n yet, i cant get them to take my order or even give us 2 glasses of cold water.

do u noe y the lady was sitting "slanted"?

look at how close the joker stuck his face to when he take down ur order. i can literally smell his breath (dun ask, seriously). n the purpose for leaning SO freaking close is because he DUNO HOW TO SPELL THE DISHES IN THE MENU. he need to copy it down. yes, word for word.

n when the lady ask him for recommendations, he uttered " i duno. what do u want actually?"

HUH????WTF????

n he was damn lazy (i reckon the jug for ice water is quite heavy since it is full n made of clay....). he took the cutomers glasses (one by one, mind u) to the small table at the other side of the restaurant to fill up ice water, n brought the glass back, instead of going around w a jug n topping up customers' glasses.

WTF TO THE MAX!!!!!

the screwed up service had certainly a negative impact on my taste.

super demoralised by work recently, baby n i decided to take half day leave on fri for a chi chi lunch b4 jacky cheung's concert.

baby's roast chix w 40 garlic (i duno y the name). super tasty! nv knew that chix can b so tender n juicy! n the garlic juz melts away. heavenly sweetness n fragrance of the garlic enhanced the dish to max.

baby's creme brulee. v v nice. u can c the vanila pod scattered generously in the dessert. we were in vanila heaven.
